IF I WERE A CAT I WOULD WANT TO BE A MAINE COON - by Grace Cox

 

More than a century ago I traveled the world on large sailing ships with sea captains from New England, Asia and Europe. I found my way to Maine, and in mating with the domestic cats in this area, established myself as one of the oldest natural breeds in North America.

I am hardy and handsome, and well equipped to handle the harsh climate of Maine. I have a glossy, shaggy coat that is water resistant to protect me against the wet weather. To help me stay warm and dry when I sleep, I wrap my large bushy tail around me. My big, round tufted feet are my snowshoes. To increase my sight and hearing, I have large eyes and ears. My ears are heavily furred both inside and out. The hair on the insides are called furnishings, and the hair on the outside are called lynx tips.

I am muscular and big boned, and the largest of the domestic cats. My full size is not achieved until I am 3 to 5 years old. Although I am known for my size I am also known for my gentle nature, as I am referred to as "the gentle giant". While my voice is much smaller than my size, I have a definite, distinctive chirping trill.

If you are looking for a cat to be a friend to you for life, then I am what you need. I will love you unconditionally and be your best supporter, in good times and in bad. No one should ever be without at least one Maine Coon Cat.

ACUNAMATANA.. NO WORRIES COONS.. somebody could asks himself why the name is wrong.. in fact it would be HACUNA MATATA but it has been changed simply to avoid homonyms!

NO WORRIES COONS.. because my cats, in despite of coming from different breeders, have a common denominator: A SWEET TEMPERAMENT.. and this character.. for cats that can reach at large, is not something to be underestimated.

My cats are free everywhere in my home and live together (better.. they cut their spaces) with my mini schnauzer those I breed since 3 years ago.

At the beginning I choose copcoon karima..

And I thank my friends Laura e Roberto Coppola for  giving me this wonderful female housenamed TRILLY because of her sweet voice. She has given me a lot of satisfaction in showing her till to gain the title of CACE at only 18 months old..

Trilly as all my cats is tested and negative for HCM and FELV.

The other female is FAYOLA HALLOWELL, she is a tortie blotched and comes from my dear friend Mirva Lammenrata, breeder of Fayolamainecoons cattery. Hallowell has a very particular colour she seems to have lights in her coat and she is also a so sweet girl..

Last but not the least is.. Mojsiej Major Perla Annaru!

He comes from Polland, Perla Annaru cattery, and I thank also Anna Janina Chudoba for this spectacoular cat, big strong but.. so sweet, he fight with my dogs without fear J because.. at only   9 months old.. he is.. 10 kilos!!!
